Swiggy snaps up Indian on-demand delivery app Scooty

Food ordering and delivery platform, Swiggy, has announced the all-cash acquisition of Mumbai-based on-demand delivery platform Scootsy, an intra-city service that gets restaurant and gourmet food, toys, beauty products and electronics to the customer’s doorstep. Swiggy did not reveal the transaction details.

The Meituan Dianping-backed food delivery giant has acquired the reportedly cash-strapped Scootsy for US$7.29 million. The buyout will expand Swiggy’s network of restaurants in India while Scootsy – which delivers a range of products, including food, electronics, apparel, toys, and books – will continue to operate as an independent app. (Entrackr)
