The OPPO F9 will feature a 6.3-inch LTPS TFT LCD display panel with 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution and a tiny notch at the top, similar to the one seen on the Essential Phone. Powering the OPPO F9 will be a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core 12nm processor, the same chip that powers the OPPO F7 and the RealMe 1. Featuring a 2.0 GHz clock speed, the chipset comes with an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU clocked at 800 MHz. Moving on to the memory department, OPPO F9 will be available in two configurations – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage.

The handset runs ColorOS 5.2 on top of the Android 8.1 Oreo OS and it’s powered by a 3,500 mAh battery. The latter supports Oppo’s VOOC charging standard providing 2-hour talk time in exchange for just 5 minutes on the wall.

In terms of software, the upcoming OPPO smartphone will be running on the Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 out of the box. So far, all the OPPO smartphones that have been launched recently run on Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1, so the F9 and the F9 Pro could be the company’s first devices to ship with the new ColorOS 5.2 version out of the box. No details are currently available regarding the changes included with ColorOS 5.2 but you can expect it to offer a few new features and some optimizations to make it even faster when compared to ColorOS 5.1
